We believe how you get married matters

There’s so much noise and distraction in modern life. It’s hard to rise above all the expectations, commitments and mundane tasks to feel the beating heart of life. The one place where you can go to wake up your true self is in nature. So we think nature is where you should go when you want to make the biggest commitment of your life - to join your life with another and promise to stay by their side no matter what.

It’s your choice to create a moment that truly reflects who you are and what you want your lives together to be. So why not have an adventure, surrounded by New Zealand’s untouched wilderness to start your married life on an absolute high.

WE'RE NOT JUST PHOTOGRAPHERS AND FILMMAKERS.

Here at The Wild Beyond, we are not only a talented team of photographers, videographers, planners and guides, but we also have a deep love of the outdoors which is why we’ve all chosen to live in Queenstown. We come from all over the world - Canada, the U.K, Australia, the U.S, with a couple of Kiwi’s thrown in the mix:) New Zealand’s untouched beauty and soaring mountains called to all of us, and now we want to share our epic backyard with you.

We’ll always have some chocolate, hand warmers, an extra head torch, blister blockers, hairspray and back up lipstick in our backpacks, and know a thing or two about getting out into the mountains. Whether its on skis, bike, foot, kayak or helicopter, getting out into the wild beyond is the way we fill our souls and put smiles on our faces.

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, “This is what it is to be happy.”

Holly

Wallace

PHOTOGRAPHER

Holly moved to Queenstown from Sydney to ski, met a cute Kiwi boy who was making snowboarding films (Josh), and never left. NZ got under her skin and she loves taking couples up into the mountains to see their wide eyes and huge smiles. Holly has won many international awards for her photos, and she uses her background in journalism to capture all the big and small moments. She’s also a bit of a speed demon on skis and loves getting outside with her young girls to have fun in the mountains.

Josh

Wallace

VIDEOGRAPHER

Josh has literally worked around the globe making films. You name it, he’s done it. From making a 3D feature film in Africa for BBC earth, to shooting documentaries for Al Jazeera in the Middle East and working as an assistant producer on Lord of the Rings, Josh is a legend when it comes to all things film. His cinematography is luminous and guaranteed he’ll have you laughing from the moment you meet him with his kiwi sense of humour. He also loves downhill mountain biking and is one of those freak people who likes riding up hill!

Mark

Johansson

VIDEOGRAPHER & PHOTOGRAPHER

Mark has a degree in Robotic Engineering and headed down that road before he realized he didn’t like working inside in front of computer 24/7. So he quit, bought a camper van and drove across Canada hiking and camping with the love of his life, and eventually ended up in Queenstown. On his travels Mark picked up a video and stills camera and started a youtube channel of his backcountry antics, which now has 1000's of followers. Basically he’s one clever guy, and of course, being a Canuck, is also super super nice.

Sam

Stirling

PLANNER

Sam has worked around the globe as an event planner, and was the GM of one of the leading event companies in Queenstown for many years. Whatever crazy idea you have, Sam can make it happen, and is a pretty mean snowboarder too! She also loves her two young girls and is excited to get couples out into the wild beyond to get hitched!!

James

Roberts

VIDEOGRAPHER

James has wandered around the world with his camera in hand making films he cares about. You’ll never want to touch plastic again after you watch his documentary, The Plastic Wave. James worked as a personal trainer for 4 years before decided to change the world through video, so he can keep up and give you some fitness tips out on the trails. When he puts his camera down, James picks up a fly fishing rod and heads into the mountains to stand thigh deep in glacial water waiting for a fish to say hello.

Dave

Dave or "Spoon" has been taking people into the hills for almost 35 years and knows the southern alps like the back of his hand. Even on his days off, he heads into the mountains for the solitude and silence. It’s his home. Where ever you want to go in the mountains, Spoon is the best person to have by your side, and he is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet!

We Care About the Wilderness

We care deeply about New Zealand’s wilderness, and donate to Forest and Bird who work extensively throughout New Zealand to look after our land, wildlife, oceans and waterways. Sadly introduced predators such as stoats, and development are a threat to our native birds, and we’ve noticed recently there’s not as many Kea’s (mountain parrots) in some of the alpine locations we visit with couples. Forest and Bird and have many fantastic programmes.
