WE'RE NOT JUST PHOTOGRAPHERS AND FILMMAKERS.

Here at The Wild Beyond, we are not only a talented team of wedding photographers, videographers, planners and guides, but we also have a deep love of the outdoors which is why we’ve all chosen to live in Queenstown. We come from all over the world - Canada, the U.K, Australia, the U.S, with a couple of Kiwi’s thrown in the mix. New Zealand’s untouched beauty and soaring mountains called to all of us, and now we want to share our epic backyard with you.

We’ll always have some chocolate, hand warmers, an extra head torch, blister blockers, hairspray and back up lipstick in our backpacks, and know a thing or two about getting out into the mountains. Whether its on skis, bike, foot, kayak or helicopter, getting out into the wild beyond is the way we fill our souls and put smiles on our faces.

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, “This is what it is to be happy.”

On his travels Mark picked up a video and stills camera and started a youtube channel of his backcountry antics, which now has 1000's of followers. Basically he’s one clever guy, and of course, being a Canuck, is also super super nice.

JAMES ROBERTS

VIDEOGRAPHER

James has wandered around the world with his camera in hand making films he cares about. You’ll never want to touch plastic again after you watch his documentary, The Plastic Wave. James worked as a personal trainer for 4 years before decided to change the world through video, so he can keep up and give you some fitness tips out on the trails. When he puts his camera down, James picks up a fly fishing rod and heads into the mountains to stand thigh deep in glacial water waiting for a fish to say hello.

Dave Mcleoud

MOUNTAIN GUIDE

Dave or "Spoon" has been taking people into the hills for almost 35 years and knows the southern alps like the back of his hand. Even on his days off, he heads into the mountains for the solitude and silence. It’s his home. Where ever you want to go in the mountains, Spoon is the best person to have by your side, and he is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet!

We Care About the Wilderness

kea forest and bird charity new zealand

We care deeply about New Zealand’s wilderness, and donate to Forest and Bird who work extensively throughout New Zealand to look after our land, wildlife, oceans and waterways. Sadly introduced predators such as stoats, and development are a threat to our native birds, and we’ve noticed recently there’s not as many Kea’s (mountain parrots) in some of the alpine locations we visit with couples. Forest and Bird and have many fantastic programmes.
